Hey, Everyone @hope. Does anyone know of any research group that is working for a cure or better medication for complex mental illness that we can donate to?

Most organisations accept donations. Sane is among many. The problem is that the experts disagree about the causes and the cures. I am still searching net for sites of interest, but we all have different opinions. I donated to Sane and stayed on home ground.

Thanks @Appleblossom I believe that mine is mainly an imbalance in my chemicals. So I'm looking for a research group who are studying this. Can't seem to find any? or it is shrouded in secrecy like a lot of things these days
lol

Maybe there are some obscure research projects in various med schools .. have you looked at Robert Sapolski's lectures .. on neuroscience and anthropology .. he has one youtube lecture on Schizophrenia.
I think the genetics & chemistry is very complex and all interconnected .. not many clearcut experimental scenarios .. there is a new immunotherapy medical research centre "Peter Doherty" in Melbourne ... they may also look into aspects of mental illness
... the complexity of the human body is utterly amazing.

Actually, big pharma is amazing for what they do. Not only do they do their own research they also collaborate with others like universities to develop drugs. The other way research gets done is by small biotech companies who, generally, when they discover something get bought up by big pharma.
I guess for this type of research work its just too hard to get the amount of funds needed. It also takes a very long time (at least a decade?) between a drug being discovered and it hitting the market. This type of research is probably unviable if it relied on donations because donations are too unstable as a source of funding.
Either donate your money to Sane to help people now or support big pharma by buying some shares. Off the top of my head Eli Lilly, Pfizer, Lundbeck and GlaxoSmithKline are all big into medications for mental illness. I would probably give my money to sane if it was me.

Thanks @Appleblossom and @mrkotter I really love SANE as a group who not only support each other and at times have been my life saviour( can't stress that enough) But I'm also wanting a cure. I have thought about this a lot. I am not discounting the effort that is being put in for the fight against stigma. I would like to see more on the fight for a cure. It is so important to keep up the management of this illness but I would ultimately like a cure. Or just some evidence of such.![]()
