Hi, i am new, & not good on technology, so I'm being direct not rude, i promise!
1. So, 'coffee' thing to write little messages of day to day stuff to anyone who is online ? Reply if you want or not .
Nothing deep or serious .
2. Is there a facility to write privately to someone?
3. I'm not sure if im too old (fashioned?) (57) for this forum ? Is it mostly young people ? I read a few of the advertised stories , and it seems mixed , but not sure if that's reflected in the actual group ?
4. I am wondering if /how to talk to people on zoom groups ? Feeling a bit overwhelmed, but also interested. Thank you all.

If I am , how to decide between 3& 6 months programs ? Can I swap ?
Thank you .

Hi @Former-Member , not rude at all. 😊 forums can a bit confusing, and this one definitely has some technology bugs that dont help either lol.
1. "Coffee" chats are general social chats. But if youre having a bad day you can still say so and people can chat about it, etc. Just goes with the flow of conversation that comes up. 😊 or that is my experience. Open to everyone and anyone.
2. No feature for private chat. I assume that is for safety. But I do sometimes wish there was, oh well.
3.I think there is a wide range of ages here. Often I have no idea what age someone is, and then they will say something like "30 years ago when..." and I will realise they must be a lot older than I thought! 😊 I dont care what age people are - here or in my local life. No such thing as "too old" and I dont think 57 is old - some of my friends are older than that even though im younger. 😊
4. No zoom meeting through the forum per se, but SANE do have some programs (Recovery Club, and Guided Recovery) which have group sessions. Is that what you are thinking of?
Ask away any other questions! 😁
And feel free to introduce yourself or anything.
And you can tag people by typing the @ symbol and then their user name. This will notify them if your message 😁

You can edit your post under "post options".
As for the different programs, im not an expert - in haven't done them but I read about them. I think one has the support of another person with 1:1 sessions too (3mth option) or without peer support 1:1 is the 6mth option.
I hear you can do the 3mth and then the 6mth i think if you want?
I think @rav3n can give more advice if theyre still online. 😊

Thank you for explaining all that.
I too don't care how old ppl are , but very often younger ppl are more comfy & good on technology. Plus they can have different 'social mores outlook/backdrop' .
Thanks again.

Hi @Former-Member
Welcome to the forums,
You don't sound rude at all! I think its wonderful that you are asking questions about how things work here, I'm sure others have wondered the same, and your courage to ask will encourage them too.
I often feel a bit overwhelmed by technology and navigating the forums myself, but I've found everyone here to be really supportive and never judgmental. We all just learn as we go.
You are defintley not too old or old fashioned to contribute.
I'm also 57, and I like to think being a little older means we bring a longer lived experience to share, haha.
I look forward to connecting with you along the way.
Kindly Alisse.
